A nice example of a Pre-WWI Model 1889 Cavalry Trooper's combat sword for Prussia. It is marked "W 97" on the spine and maker marked with a crown over "ERFURT" on one side of the ricasso and "OTTO MERTENS SOLINGEN" on the other. The hilt is in very good condition with an even overall patina. The grips are excellent with no chips or cracks.
